How do you target YOUR ideal customer and retain them?

This is a great question for any business owner that wants to attract the “ideal” customer that will buy a product or service. Once you have decided what that “ideal” customer looks like, now here comes the next question… “Where do I advertise and market my business to get in front of that “ideal” customer?”

In today’s world everyone is connected via the Internet. Digital/Internet advertising and marketing gets a business owner in front of thousands, millions of people in a matter of seconds! The average consumer will search online to research the product/service, surf the web for the best, then socialize online to see if their friends liked a product/service on Facebook or tweet their followers for feedback. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, review sites and the major search engines such as Google know this and are in the social media game.

Think about there is an app for just about anything and people stay connected on their cell phones to get answers to their questions from friends, search engines or reviews from social media sites.

When you see major players like Disney, Cisco Systems, Victoria Secret just to name a few that have jumped on the social media band wagon you know it is because they are receiving a huge return on their marketing and advertising investment. These companies are leaders in their industry and listen to their customers in order to target, engage and retain their customer base. Facebook now reports that there are over 800 million active members. Twitter reports they have 100 million monthly active users. Google has also entered the social media world with their own social media site Google Plus which by September 22, 2011 had over 43 million estimated active users since the launch.

In a nutshell the best way to target your customers is through search and social media. The combinations of the two help to retain maintain and engage with current and new customers that are actively using these social sites.
